1971 Lola T-192 Formula 5000 Serial #22
Racing History: Originally sold by Carl Haas to Kas Kastner of Kastner/Brophy Racing in February, 1971. Car was then loaned back to Carl Haas for reigning Indy 500 and 1970 USAC Champion Al Unser for use in the Questor Grand Prix in March, 1971, prepared by George Bignotti. The loan was in exchange for a new Traco Chevrolet V8 engine. The car was then campaigned in the 1971 L&M Formula 5000 Championship season by Kastner/Brophy Racing with Jim Dittemore as the driver and Max Kelley as the crew chief. Jim Dittemore finished 5th in the 1971 series.
I acquired the car in 2001 from the estate of Mike Yanchek and have run vintage races at Watkins Glen, Mid-Ohio, Road Atlanta, Waterford Hills, Blackhawk Farms, and the Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca.
Special Thanks to Curtis Jacobson of BritishRacecar.com for a very detailed early history of this car.
